In a bid to continuously encourage the promotion of creativity and excellence in talented young individuals, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Timipre Sylva, has commended the Ekubo family, who emerged winners at the 2011 edition of popular family TV reality show, the Maltina Dance All, for doing the State proud in the just concluded competition. The Governor made these commendations when he hosted the family to a special treat at the prestigious Creek Haven in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State recently, which also afforded the winners an opportunity to celebrate with the State at the 15th Anniversary cum the 51st National Independence Day of Nigeria.
The celebration was a trio combination - breakfast meeting, Independence parade and a dinner party with other top Executives of the State. While a visibly elated Sylva praised the Ekubo’s for their discipline, resilience and exhibition of the ‘Bayelsa Spirit’ in the MDA Academy, he said, ‘I hope in the very near future, to make Bayelsa State, the entertainment hub of the world as we as a state, believe so much in developing the hidden talents in our people’.
It is worthy to note that the Ekubo family were the only family never put up for possible eviction throughout their stay in the MDA Academy, where they performed the six dance styles; “Wazobia” (Contemporary Nigerian dances), Salsa, Pantomime, Paso-doble, Hip hop and contemporary African dance styles.
The Ekubo family danced their way to fortune and fame when they won the grand prize of N5million and a brand new Toyota Siena SUV at the live grand finale of the show in Lagos. |
